Coal is Australia's largest energy resource. At the end of 2020, Australia's recoverable Economic Demonstrated Resources were 74,147 million tonnes (Mt) of black coal and 74,039 Mt of brown coal. Australia is the fifth largest producer, the second largest exporter and has the third largest reserves of coal in the world.
